Heather is a recent graduate of Benedictine University with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Arts with Honors. Prior to her degree, she was awarded with Journalist of the Year (2015) and Who’s Who of Colleges and Universities in the U.S. (2015).
As a high school graduate of 2009 from New Berlin Jr.-Sr. High School, Heather is a member of the National Technical Honor Society for excellence in CISCO Computer Networking, where she completed the course with passing grades. Throughout her high school career, she was also a high school junior varsity and varsity football manager for New Berlin’s team between 2004 and 2009. Heather also involved herself in extra-curricular activities, such as high school choir, high school band, and some volunteer work with the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter in New Berlin. In junior high at New Berlin, Heather was also selected in the Regional Spelling Bee, 2 years in a row, but declined attending the first year.
Through her freshman and sophomore years of college, Heather attended Lincoln Land Community College with an anticipated major in Biology. Discovering her strong ability in writing, she changed her major to Mass Communications. One piece of writing in particular that sparked her interest and creativity in her papers, was a personal narrative of a moment in her life. Heather has excelled in Communications classes at each institution she has attended.
In 2014, Heather became an intern with the Communication Arts department at Benedictine University. In May 2014, she and one other student started up the university’s first online news publication, The Bulldog.
